Located in the heart of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple is a stunning monument to faith and community, ranking as the 43rd dedicated temple in operation. Its story begins with a powerful announcement on April 7, 1984, which ignited a wave of enthusiasm among local members. They responded to the call for construction contributions in an inspiring fashion, raising an incredible $11 million—over four times their initial goal!

The construction excitement reached a crescendo on November 30, 1985, when Gordon B. Hinckley, then President of the Church, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony. This historic event drew more than 6,000 attendees at the Las Vegas Convention Center, highlighting the widespread support and devotion of the community.

A milestone open house from November 16 to December 9, 1989, welcomed nearly 300,000 eager visitors to explore the temple before its dedication. The culmination of this journey came with the official dedication held from December 16 to 18, 1989, also under the guidance of President Hinckley.

Set on a spacious 10.3 acres, the temple’s striking design showcases a beautiful exterior made of white precast stone and a captivating copper roof. Highlighting its architectural wonder are six elegant spires crowned with a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. This statue, facing eastward away from the city, carries significant symbolism, heralding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
