The temple first welcomed the community during a public open house from April 8 to 15, 2000, allowing individuals to explore its features before a formal dedication took place on April 23, 2000, under the guidance of Elder James E. Faust. Building on this momentum, the temple re-engaged with the public in 2019, hosting another open house from April 13 to 20, and culminating in a successful rededication ceremony led by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland on May 5, 2019.
Situated on a thoughtfully designed 6.35 acres, the Memphis Tennessee Temple boasts a stunning beige limestone exterior, creating a sense of presence and elegance. Inside the temple, the thoughtful layout includes two instruction rooms, two celestial rooms, and a baptistery, all spread across 10,890 square feet, designed to facilitate spiritual experiences.
Standing at an impressive height of 83’9″ and nestled at an elevation of 323 feet, the temple occupies a prime location at 4199 Kirby-Whitten Parkway in Bartlett. As the first temple built in Tennessee, its impact on the community is profound. A major renovation began on September 29, 2017, aimed at enhancing the temple’s functionality and aesthetic appeal. This renovation included a thoughtful 10-foot elevation of the steeple, aligning with the updated design while enriching its overall presence.

Gold leaf pinstriping in the instruction, celestial, and sealing rooms adds a touch of refinement, while art glass featuring infinity bell flowers and lazy eight motifs creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The antiqued bronze pendant lighting, alongside a neoclassic crystal and brass chandelier in the celestial and sealing rooms, further elevates the interior’s elegance.
Flooring throughout the temple showcases Daphne white stone tile sourced from Sorrento, Florida, leading guests through the entry, baptistry, and brides’ room with grace. Additionally, the rugs, adorned with a pawpaw flower field pattern and lazy eight borders in soft hues, enhance the welcoming ambiance.
