The journey of the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple began when it was announced on October 3, 1992. Groundbreaking and site dedication took place on October 9, 1993, conducted by the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. Following years of anticipation, the public open house ran from August 6, 1996, to September 21, 1996, attracting an impressive 679,217 attendees. The dedication period spanned from October 13, 1996, to October 19, 1996, also presided over by Gordon B. Hinckley.
Architectural Features
Built on 16.7 acres, the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple showcases an exterior finish of sierra white granite with art glass windows and ornate bronze doors. A notable architectural feature is the single attached end spire, adorned with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. This statue was installed on July 17, 1995, in front of a gathering of about 20,000 people, marking a historic moment for the Temple.
Interior Design Elements
The interior of Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple is designed with an adaptive floor plan similar to that of the Bountiful Utah Temple. It boasts four instruction rooms, eight sealing rooms, and one baptistry, facilitating various functions and personal experiences.
