LDS Temple News Presents the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple House of the Lord Holiness to the Lord

Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a wonderful gem located in Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful temple is the 95th dedicated temple in operation, and it has been a source of inspiration and community since its announcement on March 14, 1999.

Excitement filled the air when the groundbreaking took place on July 3, 1999, thanks to Elder Rex D. Pinegar. After years of hard work and dedication, the doors opened for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was a special time as people from all around came to experience the peaceful atmosphere it offers. The official dedication followed shortly after on July 30, 2000, led by Apostle James E. Faust, marking a proud moment for everyone involved.

The temple is stunning, with its warm beige limestone exterior and an eye-catching single spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. Set on a lovely acre of serene grounds, complete with a charming fountain, it’s a great place to find peace and reflection. Inside, you’ll find beautiful Italian marble finishes and welcoming spaces like two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to create a special experience for visitors.

What’s even more delightful is that this temple serves not only the people of Oklahoma but also reaches out to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. It recently hosted a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, which allowed even more folks to explore this lovely space before it was rededicated on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring after some renovations.

Standing at 83 feet 9 inches and perched at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple truly rises up as a symbol of hope and community spirit. Being the first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a dedicated district of 9,000 members. With its rich history and friendly atmosphere, the temple remains a beloved sanctuary for everyone who walks through its doors. Come and experience the warmth and beauty for yourself!
