LDS Temple News Presents the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple House of the Lord Holiness to the Lord

Welcome to the wonderful Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a special place that has been bringing joy and peace to the community since it officially opened its doors! Located at 12030 N Mustang Rd in Yukon, this beautiful temple, finished in a warm beige limestone, is not just a stunning sight to behold with its gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue perched atop a single spire, but also a cherished gathering spot for many.

Did you know the journey for this temple began way back on March 14, 1999? It was a day filled with excitement, and just a few months later, Elder Rex D. Pinegar led the groundbreaking on July 3, 1999. The buzz kept building until the first public open house came from July 8 to July 22, 2000, drawing in many eager visitors who wanted to see this magnificent structure!

Following its dedication on July 30, 2000, by Apostle James E. Faust, the temple has continued to grow in significance, serving around 9,000 members in the area. It’s not just about being a beautiful building; this temple plays an important role in fostering faith and community across Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.

After a major renovation that started on October 15, 2017, the temple reopened its doors on May 19, 2019, with a fresh look and a renewed spirit, welcoming back visitors with open arms. The interior is just as breathtaking as the exterior, featuring elegant Italian marble and a tranquil atmosphere perfect for reflection.

Inside, you’ll find two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry! Whether you’re visiting for a special occasion or a moment of quiet contemplation, there’s a welcoming vibe here that makes you feel right at home. And, the serene grounds, complete with a lovely fountain, create a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Standing tall at 83 feet 9 inches and sitting at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple truly is a gem of the community—a beautiful space for worship, reflection, and connection. If you have the chance to visit, it’s definitely worth it! Come experience the warmth and inspiration that this remarkable place has to offer!
