LDS Temple News Presents the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple

Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a warm and inviting treasure in Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful temple, the 95th dedicated temple in operation, has been a source of hope and community since it was announced on March 14, 1999.

The excitement kicked off when the groundbreaking took place on July 3, 1999, led by Elder Rex D. Pinegar. After years of hard work, the temple opened its doors for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was such a joyful time as people came together to explore this serene space! The official dedication happened soon after, on July 30, 2000, with Apostle James E. Faust leading the ceremony, marking a proud moment for everyone involved.

The temple itself is a stunning sight, showcasing a beautiful beige limestone exterior and topped with a lovely gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue on its spire. The grounds are peaceful, complete with a charming fountain that adds to the tranquility—a perfect spot to relax and reflect. Inside, you’ll find elegant Italian marble finishes and cozy spaces designed for worship, including two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.

What makes this place truly special is that it serves not just the wonderful folks of Oklahoma, but also reaches out to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Recently, the temple had another chance to shine with a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, welcoming even more visitors before its rededication on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.

Towering at 83 feet 9 inches and sitting at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple stands tall, symbolizing community spirit and hope. Being the first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a dedicated district of 9,000 members. With its rich history and friendly atmosphere, the temple is a beloved place for all who come to experience its warmth and beauty. We invite you to visit and see for yourself the joy and tranquility it offers!
