Welcome to the Orem Utah Temple, a beautiful addition to the community and the 188th temple dedicated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Located at 1451 S 1100 W in Orem, Utah, this temple is a wonderful place for everyone seeking peace and inspiration.
The excitement began on October 5, 2019, when the temple was officially announced, and just a year later, on September 5, 2020, a special groundbreaking ceremony took place. With Elder Craig C. Christensen leading the way, this moment was made even more special by the presence of family members from the Williamson family, who sold the land to make this dream a reality.
The doors opened to the public from October 27 to December 16, 2023, allowing everyone to come in and explore the stunning design and tranquil atmosphere before the temple was officially dedicated. The temple sits on a lovely 15.39 acres, featuring beautiful pedras salgadas granite from Portugal and charming bronze-colored doors that welcome you with warmth.
As you arrive, you can’t help but admire the striking architecture—it’s a delightful three-story building topped with a slender, elegant spire that reaches for the sky. Inside, you’ll find 71,998 square feet of serene space filled with four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all designed to create a peaceful and inviting environment for spiritual growth.
One of the most enchanting aspects of the temple is its lovely windows, which showcase gorgeous art glass in shades of taupe, depicting cherry blossoms and the wetlands surrounding Utah Lake. It’s a beautiful way to connect with the local landscape!
And let’s not forget the stunning interior, featuring exquisite Crema Marfil marble from Turkey. The unique patterns in warm colors of cream, red, green, and brown add a friendly touch that invites everyone in.
Surrounding the temple, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed landscape filled with Norwegian sunset maples, hydrangeas, and whirling butterflies, creating a cheerful setting that complements the temple’s charm.
Elder Christensen beautifully stated that the Orem Utah Temple would serve as “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” It is not just a place for worship but a welcoming haven for families and individuals looking to strengthen their faith and find comfort.
With 26 stakes at the time of the announcement and a steadily growing community, the Orem Utah Temple truly embodies the spirit of belonging and hope. Come and experience the joy and peace it offers—there’s a place here for everyone!
