LDS Temple News Presents the Payson Utah Temple House of the Lord Holiness to the Lord

Nestled in the stunning landscape of Payson, Utah, the Payson Utah Temple stands as the 146th dedicated temple in operation, a true haven for those seeking peace and purpose. The announcement of this sacred site took place on January 25, 2010, when the beloved Prophet Thomas S. Monson inspired many with his words, stating, “Temples answer those soul-searching questions of the purpose of life, of why we are here and where we are going. They are sanctuaries from the storms of life and bless the lives of members of the Church who Temple  within their sacred walls.”

The journey to its completion began with a memorable groundbreaking and site dedication on October 8, 2011, led by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks amidst a light fall of rain and a crisp temperature of 32 degrees. A remarkable crowd of over seven thousand gathered that day, moved by the significance of this new spiritual landmark. Oaks eloquently shared, “Standing adjacent to I-15, the major north-south artery in Utah, the Payson Utah Temple will be a dominant and visible influence on the millions who pass by here by day and by night.”

The doors of the Payson Utah Temple opened to the public from April 24 to May 23, 2015, welcoming an astounding 475,542 visitors who came to explore its beauty. The temple, which covers 96,630 square feet and sits on 10.63 acres, boasts an exterior of elegant cream precast concrete panels and is crowned with a stunning gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni atop a central spire that reaches 208 feet into the sky.

Inside, Temple pers can find three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed for sacred purposes. The temple sits at an elevation of 4,691 feet and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who visit.
