The journey to this sacred space began with a significant groundbreaking ceremony on February 6, 1999, led by Loren C. Dunn. This event set the stage for a remarkable institution that would serve thousands. The public was invited to marvel at its beauty during the first open house, held from December 3rd to December 11th, 1999. Just a week later, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple was officially dedicated over two impactful days from December 18th to 19th, 1999, by the esteemed Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
Fast forward twenty years, and the temple celebrated another historic occasion—its second public open house from September 21st to September 28th, 2019. This event underscored the Raleigh North Carolina Temple’s enduring importance, culminating in a rededication on October 13, 2019, by Apostle M. Russell Ballard.
Spanning 3.17 acres and encompassing an impressive 12,864 square feet, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple features a stunning exterior of beige limestone that commands attention. Its architectural elegance is accentuated by a single attached spire crowned with a gold leafed Angel Moroni statue, representing hope and divine guidance.
Inside, the Raleigh North Carolina Temple is meticulously designed with two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, creating an environment that fosters spiritual growth and reflection.
