The journey to its realization began on April 12, 1999, when the dream of a Temple in Reno was announced, igniting excitement within the members. Just a few short months later, on July 24, 1999, the church marked a pivotal moment with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Rex D. Pinegar, setting the stage for this divine Temple.
After years of hard work and dedication, the Reno Nevada Temple opened its doors for a heartfelt public open house from April 8th to the 15th, 2000. This event allowed the Temple to come together and feel the spirit of the Temple for the first time, fostering connections and deepening faith. The dedication of the Temple by the beloved Prophet Thomas S. Monson was a moment etched in memory for those in attendance, marking the start of a new chapter for spiritual growth in the region.
Adorned with gray granite quarried from near Sharon, Vermont, the Reno Nevada Temple shines as a testament to craftsmanship and beauty. Its striking single attached end spire, topped with a gold leafed Angel Moroni statue, reaches toward the heavens—a powerful Temple of hope and guidance. Inside, the Temple spans 10,700 square feet, featuring two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all thoughtfully designed to help individuals and families connect with their faith and each other.
