The journey of the Reno Nevada Temple began with its announcement on April 12, 1999. The groundbreaking and site dedication occurred shortly after, on July 24, 1999, conducted by Rex D. Pinegar. This marked the start of what would become an iconic addition to the region.
The public open house took place from April 8th through the 15th, 2000, allowing many to witness the beauty of the Temple before its dedication. The official dedication was performed by Prophet Thomas S. Monson, an event that marked a significant milestone for the area.
Architectural Features
The architectural elegance of the Reno Nevada Temple is apparent both inside and out. Covering an area of 10,700 square feet, the building is meticulously designed with a gray granite exterior, sourced from a quarry near Sharon, Vermont.
