Set on a beautiful 6.42 acres in the state’s most populous city, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on September 7, 2024, led by Steven Bangerter. With an architectural design that features a striking single attached central tower—though notably without a gold-leafed Angel Moroni—the Wichita Kansas Temple stands as a unique testament to modern religious architecture.

Inside, the Wichita Kansas Temple boasts 9,950 square feet of sacred space, including one instruction room, one sealing room, and one baptistry, providing ample facilities for Temple work. At an elevation of 1,327 feet, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

Mark your calendars! The public got its first glimpse at the Wichita Kansas Temple’s design on July 22, 2024, and while the open house dates are yet to be announced, anticipation is building. 

Rich in history, the area has deep roots with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dating back to 1831 when missionaries first taught the Shawnee and Delaware tribes. Wichita saw its first branch established in 1882, cementing its significance in church history.
