In Provo’s heart, where memories dwell,
A temple once stood, casting its spell.
Dubbed “spaceship” or “cupcake” by name,
It cradled the dreams of many a flame.
Yet time brought a change, a new path to tread,
As the Provo Utah Temple closed its thread.
From its ashes, the
Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will rise,
A familiar form against Utah’s vast skies.
With a spire pointing high, like hope on the breeze,
The city’s east bench now feels a new ease.
Windows like eyes await the dawn’s gleam,
Sheathing boards whisper of the new dream.
Concrete pours forth, curbing the land,
A vision taking shape, crafted by hand.
By twenty-seven’s mid, the promise will bloom,
An open house beckons—the new temple’s room.
Yet in the shadows, some hearts still pine,
For the quirky old design, sweet and benign.
Petitions were penned, with voices raised high,
To save what was loved, to let memories fly.
But change, dear friends, is life’s gentle song,
The new will be cherished, as we all carry on.
For love shapes our world, in temples, it grows,
And each generation finds beauty, as it knows.
So let us embrace what the future will bring,
As the old makes way for the new to take wing.
In time, the new temple will weave stories anew,
As the hearts of the faithful once more gather ’round true.
