Exciting Developments: Santiago Philippines Temple

On October 2, 2022, during the General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced the plans for the Santiago Philippines Temple, marking an important milestone for the region. Situated approximately 225 miles northeast of Manila, this addition brings the total number of temples announced for the Philippines to ten, complementing existing sites such as the Alabang, Bacolod, and Cebu City Temples.

Location and Features

The Santiago Philippines Temple will be constructed on a 14.47-acre site situated east of Camella Isabella Main Road in Barangay Malvar, Santiago City, Province of Isabela. With a generous footprint of 18,850 square feet, the design includes a single attached central spire that will notably lack a gold-leafed Angel Moroni.

At an elevation of 260 feet, the exterior will feature beige granite, exemplifying a modern yet timeless architectural aesthetic. Alongside the Temple, plans include a meetinghouse, patron housing, and a distribution center, enhancing the overall campus environment.

Current Status

As of now, the Santiago Philippines Temple is still in the planning stages, and an official construction date has yet to be announced. The rendering of the Temple was made public on February 23, 2026, offering a glimpse of the future.

This development reflects the ongoing commitment to increasing access to sacred spaces, as President Nelson noted during the announcement: “Let us never lose sight of what the Lord is doing for us now. He is making His temples more accessible. He is accelerating the pace at which we are building temples. He is increasing our ability to help gather Israel.”

Conclusion

The Santiago Philippines Temple promises to not only be a significant addition to the landscape of Isabela but also an important spiritual site for many. With its unique features and strategic location, it stands as a testament to the continued growth in the region. Keep an eye out for more updates as planning progresses.
