The announcement of the Victoria British Columbia Temple was made on April 7, 2024, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 194th General Conference. This news was met with much anticipation among the over 200,000 Latter-day Saints residing in nearly 500 congregations across Canada. Prior to the announcement, dedicated temples included eight others in Canada, with the closest being the Vancouver British Columbia Temple, situated roughly 60 miles away.
The groundbreaking and site dedication is scheduled for August 22, 2026, to be presided over by James E. Evanson. Leading up to this, the zoning bylaw for the temple site received approval from the Langford City Council on September 15, 2025, marking a pivotal step forward in this project.

The design of the Victoria British Columbia Temple encompasses a single story layout, occupying an area of 11,400 square feet on a total of 4.47 acres. The exterior will feature elegant granite, complementing its architectural elements which include a single attached end spire, all without a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue.
Interior Details
Within the Temple, there will be provisions for one or two instructional rooms, although the exact number has not yet been announced. For its size, it will also accommodate three sealing rooms and one baptistry, ensuring a variety of spaces for different purposes.
