The long-awaited announcement regarding the Lindon Utah Temple was made by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 4, 2020. The groundbreaking and site dedication occurred on April 23, 2022, led by Elder Kevin W. Pearson. He expressed his hopes for the construction by stating, “May the construction of Thy holy house here in Lindon continue to bless this community with peace, love, and unity.”
Architectural Features
The Lindon Utah Temple is constructed on 11.87 acres, featuring an elegant exterior made of granite. Its architectural elements include two attached end spires, although it does not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. The total floor area of the Temple is 87,005 square feet, built at an elevation of 4,817 feet.
Interior Design
Inside, the Temple offers four instructional rooms, each accommodating 50 people, along with four sealing rooms and two baptistries. The decor throughout will reflect the area’s agrarian roots, prominently showcasing the Linden Tree Flower in the stained glass and other decorative elements.
Amenities and Surroundings
Additionally, a designated area at the northeast corner provides a scenic backdrop for bridal parties wishing to capture memorable photographs with the Temple in view. The surrounding parking lot is designed in a circular fashion, enclosed by black ornamental fencing, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area.
Future Significance
The Lindon Utah Temple will serve the small city of Lindon, which has a population of approximately 11,000 people and is nestled between Pleasant Grove and Orem, Utah. It marks the 25th dedicated Temple in the beautiful state of Utah and is the seventh to be built in Utah County.
Leadership
The first President and Matron of the Lindon Utah Temple will be Lynn McKinlay Brätt and Elizabeth Ann Prestwich Brätt, who will guide its operations and set the tone for its use.
This new Temple represents a significant investment in the spiritual and social fabric of the Lindon area, promising to enrich the lives of its residents and visitors alike.
