Just over a year later, from March 23 to March 30, 2002, a public open house gave individuals the chance to explore the Temple before it was officially dedicated.
On April 21, 2002, the Temple was dedicated by Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who remarked on the significance of the creation of such spaces in enriching lives and connecting individuals to their spirituality.
Architectural Features
Situated on a generous 2.7 acres, the Lubbock Texas Temple spans 16,498 square feet and is primarily constructed of Empress white and majestic gray granite quarried in China. A notable design element is the single attached end spire, crowned with a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue.
