McAllen Texas Temple an LDS Temple
Covering an area of 10.61 acres, the McAllen Texas Temple is designed with notable architectural elements. The building features an exterior finish of beige precast concrete panels, crafted by Gate Precast of Hillsboro, Texas. With a single attached central tower, the temple’s height reaches an impressive 108 feet, while it sits at an elevation of 107 feet. The total floor area of the temple is 27,897 square feet, providing ample space for its many functions.
Interior Elements
The temple boasts essential rooms tailored for a variety of purposes. It includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry. The interior showcases soft-gold broadloom carpet in general areas and instruction rooms, complemented by wall-to-wall wool rugs in celestial and sealing rooms. Additionally, vibrant area rugs in blues, golds, and greens enhance the ambiance within.
A Commitment to Serve
The McAllen Texas Temple is the fifth built in the state of Texas, reflecting the growth and development of its faith-driven population. On August 28, 2020, the official exterior rendering was unveiled, providing a glimpse into its majestic design.
Community and Support
On the day of the site dedication, Elder Rascon expressed heartfelt gratitude for the faith and diligence of the local Latter-day Saints, acknowledging their efforts to establish a spiritual presence in the valley and across the border into Mexico. His remarks emphasized the collective commitment to living the values that underpin this important religious space.
The Meetinghouse
In addition to the temple, plans include a meetinghouse of over 19,000 square feet, accommodating three wards, a stake suite, mission offices, and a distribution center. This added space underscores the temple’s role in supporting the local spiritual landscape.
Dedication Day
The culmination of this journey will be marked on October 8, 2023, with the dedication of the McAllen Texas Temple by Apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf. This event signifies not only the completion of this significant project but also the commitment and dedication of all those involved in bringing it to fruition.
