Nestled in the heart of Brigham City, Utah, the Brigham City Utah Temple stands as the 139th dedicated Temple in operation. Located at 250 S Main St, this remarkable site holds a significant place within the region, being the first Temple in Box Elder County and the fourteenth overall in Utah.
A Journey Through History
The announcement for the Brigham City Utah Temple came on October 3, 2009, during the 179th Semiannual General Conference by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. This moment marked the beginning of an exciting chapter in the area’s religious landscape.
Groundbreaking took place on July 31, 2010, officiated by Apostle Boyd K. Packer, setting the foundation for a site that would soon become central to many. The anticipation grew, culminating in a public open house from August 15 through September 15, 2012. Finally, on September 23, 2012, Apostle Packer dedicated the Temple, marking its official opening for use.
Architectural Marvel
Covering 36,000 square feet and constructed on 3.14 acres, the Temple showcases a beautiful exterior finish of precast concrete limestone. Its striking design includes two attached end spires, topped by a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, which was installed in a brief but memorable ceremony witnessed by 5,000 attendees.
With a height of 165 feet, this architectural gem rises prominently against the Brigham City skyline. Visitors will notice its unique setting, as it occupies land once home to an old school that has since been demolished, a reminder of the evolving nature of the area.
Facilities and Accessibility
The Brigham City Utah Temple prioritizes convenience and accessibility. It features a two-story garage with ample parking, including 123 surface stalls, 29 street stalls, and 130 underground stalls accessible from the west side. Unlike some locations, there is no meetinghouse in the same parking lot, allowing for a serene atmosphere.
Inside, the Temple comprises two instruction rooms, three sealing rooms, and a baptistry, providing spaces for various ceremonies and activities.
