Exciting News: The Cleveland Ohio Temple is on the Horizon!
The anticipation is building in the Buckeye State as the Cleveland Ohio Temple prepares to take shape. Announced during the 194th General Conference on April 3, 2022, by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this Temple represents a profound commitment to the spiritual growth and community of Ohio.
A Vision Come to Life
On June 1, 2024, Elder Vaiangina Sikahema will lead the groundbreaking and site dedication of the Cleveland Ohio Temple, signaling the start of construction on a stunning 9,900 square-foot space. Nestled on a picturesque 12.5-acre site at 5997 Brecksville Road in Independence, Ohio, this Cleveland Temple will offer a breathtaking exterior accentuated by elegant granite, standing proudly at an elevation of 733 feet.
Sharing Spaces and Strengthening Community
In a move aimed at fostering community and providing easy access for congregants, the Cleveland Ohio Temple will share its parking lot with a meetinghouse. This initiative embraces the church’s mission to serve and uplift the community, making spiritual gatherings more accessible for the thousands of members across Ohio.
Architectural Features
While the Cleveland LDS Temple will feature a single, striking attached spire, it will not have the customary gold-leafed Angel Moroni atop, setting it apart in a unique way. Inside, Temple patrons will find an instruction room, a sealing room, and a single baptistry, nicely tailored to meet the needs of the faithful.
The artistic rendering of the Cleveland Ohio Temple was unveiled to the public on July 25, 2023, giving the community a glimpse of what’s to come. It promises to be a sacred space for reflection, devotion, and connection.
Growing Together
At the time of the Temple’s announcement, Ohio was home to over 63,000 members of the church, organized into 125 congregations. The Cleveland Ohio Temple will be the second temple in the state, further solidifying Ohio as a vibrant hub for spiritual life in the region.
A Beacon of Hope
As the Open House date approaches, excitement continues to build. The new Cleveland Ohio Temple not only signifies a place for worship but also serves as a beacon of hope and community for all residents, fostering unity and a shared vision of faith.
