Unveiling the Layton Utah Temple: A Beacon of Faith and Beauty

Excitement swept through the community during the Sunday Afternoon Session of the 188th Annual General Conference when President Russell M. Nelson announced the highly anticipated construction of the Layton Utah Temple! This beautiful addition to the landscape debuted on April 1, 2018, and is set to become a cherished spiritual home for many.

Imagine standing before the Layton Utah Temple, where two elegant end spires reach for the sky, crowned with a stunning gold leafed angel Moroni statue. With a grand total of 93,539 square feet, this architectural marvel boasts four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and an inviting baptistry—all designed to help individuals connect more deeply with their faith. The temple’s height of 215 feet is impressive, especially at an elevation of 4,468 feet, providing a serene backdrop that highlights its beauty.

This impressive temple is not just any building; it’s the twenty-second temple to be built in Utah and holds the distinction of being the second in Davis County, following the beloved Bountiful Utah Temple. Picture the groundbreaking ceremony on May 23, 2020, where Elder Craig C. Christensen, president of the Utah Area, expressed gratitude for the faith-filled community that surrounds it. “We are very grateful to join you from this impressive and beautiful site,” he said, celebrating the faith of Latter-day Saints whose spirits fuel this sacred project.

As we eagerly await the grand opening, a remarkable public open house will take place from April 19 to June 1, 2024, allowing the community to step inside and experience the holiness of the temple firsthand. Prior to that, on April 15, a special media day will welcome invited guests to explore its stunning interior—a rare opportunity that promises to be unforgettable.

The anticipation builds as we prepare for the dedication ceremony on June 16, 2024, presided over by Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The excitement will be palpable as two sessions are broadcast to all congregations in the temple district at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The Layton Utah Temple symbolizes hope, faith, and community spirit—a place where individuals can seek solace, guidance, and connection. It’s more than just a building; it’s a cornerstone of faith for Layton and beyond. Join the celebration and be a part of this monumental chapter in the history of our community!
