Hey there! Have you heard about the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple? It’s located at 11022 S 4000 W in South Jordan, Utah, and it’s truly a sight to behold! The story of this beautiful temple began with its announcement on October 1, 2005, and it officially broke ground on December 16, 2006, thanks to the wonderful Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.

After a lot of hard work and dedication, the doors were opened to the public from June 1 to August 1, 2009, allowing everyone to take a peek inside this lovely space. The dedication followed soon after, with Prophet Thomas S. Monson leading the services from August 21 to 23, 2009.

Sitting on an impressive 11 acres, the temple’s exterior is dressed in Uinta Gold Granite from China, with gorgeous pavers made from Wyndam Grey Granite sourced from China’s Qingdao area. A standout feature is the stunning end spire topped with a gold leafed angel Moroni statue—so iconic and inspiring!

You’ll find that the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple is quite spacious, boasting 60,000 square feet and standing at 183 feet high. And can you believe it’s perched at an elevation of 4,783 feet? It’s actually the thirteenth temple built in Utah and the fourth in the Salt Lake Valley, right alongside the charming South Jordan Utah Temple.

There’s an interesting tidbit about the temple: during the open house on June 13, 2009, lightning struck the angel Moroni statue, leaving it a bit charred. But no worries! A brand new statue was installed on August 11, just in time for the dedicatory services.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a beautiful blend of light limestone from Morocco and darker limestone from Egypt. The woodwork is equally gorgeous, crafted from Rift-cut White Oak from Indiana and Kentucky, giving it a warm and inviting feel. Don’t miss the dazzling chandeliers, especially the stunning 15-foot tall one in the Celestial Room that sparkles with 19,447 Swarovski crystals!

Throughout the temple, you’ll notice lovely bronzed door handrails made in the USA and beautiful murals painted by dedicated church service missionaries. Each detail adds to the warmth and beauty, making the temple feel like a true sanctuary.

Whether you’re coming for a visit, a ceremony, or just to soak in the peaceful atmosphere, the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple is a special place filled with love and community spirit. We can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself!
