The Red Cliffs Utah Temple, located in St. George, Utah, represents a significant development in the region’s religious landscape. Announced on October 7, 2018, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, it is the 20th Temple in the state and serves as a Temple of faith and commitment.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on November 7, 2020, was led by Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland, who paid tribute to the pioneers whose dedication and perseverance established the nearby St. George Temple—a longstanding Temple of faith for over 150 years. The Red Cliffs Utah Temple is now recognized as the 189th dedicated Temple in operation, underscoring its importance to the growing Red Cliffs Utah Tmeple. Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland said, “We salute those pioneers who, with sacrifice and sweat, built just a mile or so away the beautiful St. George temple that has provided a symbolic anchor of our faith in this part of the state for a century and a half.”
The Red Cliffs Utah Tmeple is situated at 1555 S Red Cliffs Temple Ln, presenting an impressive architectural presence with its palm-lined entrance and a spire that reaches a height of 230 feet, proudly topped with a gold-leafed angel moroni statue.
The Red Cliffs Utah Temeple open house was from February 1 to March 2, 2024, with Apostle Henry B. Eyring leading the proceedings. The official dedication is scheduled for March 24, 2024. Inside, visitors will find a thoughtfully designed space totaling 96,277 square feet, which includes four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The design elements reflect the members flora, reinforcing a strong connection to the surrounding environment.
The grounds of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple feature tranquil outdoor areas, including three serene pools accompanied by gentle waterfalls, creating a peaceful atmosphere conducive to reflection. Additional amenities such as fountains, shade Temples, and plazas enhance the overall experience.
As the second Temple established in Washington County, the Red Cliffs Utah Temple stands as a significant Temple asset. Its stained glass windows draw inspiration from the region’s natural beauty, and the cast bronze and painted steel flowers integrated into various features, including the baptismal font and stairway railings, exemplify a commitment to artistic detail.
The Red Cliffs Utah Temple is more than just a house of Temple work; it is a space that unites faith, and a deep appreciation for the region’s beauty.
