The journey of the Star Valley Wyoming Temple began with its announcement on October 1, 2011, during a General Conference by Prophet Thomas S. Monson. This event marked a pivotal moment in its history, setting the stage for years of spiritual fulfillment.

The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on April 25, 2015, led by Craig C. Christensen. This occasion was a significant step forward in bringing the vision of the Temple to life.

Following this, the public open house was held from September 23rd to October 8th, 2016. During this period, an impressive 78,000 individuals came through to tour the Temple, showcasing the community’s anticipation and support.

Inside the Temple, there is one instruction room, one sealing room, and a single baptistry to facilitate various gatherings and ceremonies. The stained glass in the foyer is particularly noteworthy, featuring a depiction of Jesus Christ that was originally from a Presbyterian Church in New York City.

Occupying a generous 43.6 acres, the Temple sits at an elevation of 6,218 feet, making it the first building of its kind in Wyoming, followed by the Casper Wyoming Temple.
