Let’s take a friendly stroll through the amazing journey of the Meridian Idaho Temple, the 158th temple in operation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! This beautiful temple was announced during the uplifting Saturday Morning Session of the 181st Annual General Conference back on April 2, 2011. Fast forward a bit, and on August 23, 2014, Elder David A. Bednar led the groundbreaking ceremony, encouraging everyone present to let their gratitude for this holy place shine bright long after the day of its dedication.

And what a dedication it was! On November 19, 2017, the temple was dedicated by the beloved apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He offered a heartfelt blessing for all who would come through those sacred doors, hoping that the covenants and ordinances experienced there would deeply resonate in their hearts and minds.

Set on a lovely 15.73 acres, the Meridian Idaho Temple is designed with a gorgeous precast concrete finish. Its striking architecture features a single tower and an octagonal dome, all capped off with a stunning gold leaf statue of the angel Moroni. Inside, you’ll find three instruction rooms, five sealing rooms, and a baptistery, all spread across an impressive 67,331 square feet. Towering at 120 feet and 2 inches, it sits at an elevation of 2,563 feet, making it a beautiful sight in the landscape.

Located on the charming north end of the city along the scenic Boise River and North Linder Road, the temple is surrounded by lovely, well-kept grounds, complete with two large ponds that add a peaceful touch to the scenery. Did you know that this is the fifth temple built in Idaho? It shows how vibrant and committed our community is!

Mark your calendars for May 14, 2013, when the official rendering was shared with the public—it was such an exciting time! And remember the thrill on July 20, 2016, when a crane hoisted the impressive 13-foot-6-inch statue of the angel Moroni to its spot atop the temple.

The Meridian Idaho Temple is more than just a magnificent building; it’s a place of peace, hope, and community spirit. Whether you’re a visitor or a patron, it warmly invites you to experience its sacred atmosphere. Come and feel the joy that this beautiful temple brings to everyone who has the chance to visit!
