The Mesa Arizona Temple is a wonderful landmark and holds a special place in many hearts as the 7th dedicated temple in operation! If you’re ever in the area, you can find it at 101 S. LeSueur Street, Mesa, AZ 85204. The temple was announced way back on October 9, 1919, and it has such a rich history!
It recently opened its doors for a public open house from October 16 to November 20, 2021, which was led by the Prophet Dallin H. Oaks. Spanning across 20 picturesque acres, the temple features a beautiful exterior made of concrete reinforced with 130 tons of steel, all finished in a lovely glazed eggshell shade.
Architecturally, the temple boasts a flat roof adorned with sculpted friezes, and inside you’ll find four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all nestled within its impressive 75,000 square feet of space. Standing tall at 53 feet and built at an elevation of 1,240 feet, it was the very first temple constructed in Arizona, originally known as the Arizona Temple.
You might find it interesting that the temple has evolved over time; it used to feature live acting but has transitioned to a more modern display. Plus, don’t miss the lovely friezes decorating the top corners — they symbolize Isaiah’s promise for the last days. It’s truly a beautiful place to visit!
