The Modesto California Temple is set to become a remarkable landmark in California, proudly standing as the 10th temple in the state. Situated in the vibrant Central Valley, Modesto carries a rich agricultural history, beautifully reflected in its name, which means “modest” in Spanish.

Construction is well underway! The exterior cladding is nearing completion, with lush landscaping advancing alongside the delivery of numerous trees. The perimeter masonry wall is almost finished, and millwork is actively taking shape within, all leading to an anticipated completion in mid- to late 2026. An open house and dedication ceremony will follow shortly after, inviting the community to experience this monumental spiritual space.

Exuding elegance, the Modesto California Temple features a striking single attached central tower. It will offer two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, catering to the diverse needs of its visitors. Standing at an impressive 81 feet, this temple represents hope and unity for the 755,000 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California, providing them with a sacred space to embrace their faith.

The groundbreaking ceremony on October 7, 2023, marked a significant milestone, with Elder Gary B. Sabin delivering the dedicatory prayer. The temple will share its parking lot with the adjacent meetinghouse at 4300 Dale Road, enhancing accessibility for the congregation.

This architectural masterpiece is being constructed on a generous 17.63 acres, featuring an expansive 30,000 square feet of sacred space. The official rendering, released on December 19, 2022, has ignited anticipation for what lies ahead.
