On April 3, 2022, a significant announcement marked the expansion of spiritual spaces in Idaho: the Montpelier Idaho Temple was revealed by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson. This new House of the Lord aims to serve the needs of its congregants and community, providing a dedicated space for spiritual pursuits.
Groundbreaking and Dedication
The official groundbreaking and dedication took place on June 17, 2023, led by Elder Ryan K. Olsen. During the event, he expressed hopes for blessings of understanding and peace for all who gathered, reinforcing the importance of this new House of the Lord in the lives of those in the region.
Architectural Features
The Montpelier Idaho Temple will encompass 27,000 square feet and is thoughtfully positioned on a generous 2.6 acres. This House of the Lord features a single attached central tower, which distinguishes its architectural design. Uniquely, there will be no gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue adorning the top. Inside, the temple will include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, catering to a variety of spiritual needs.
Elevation and Size
Situated at an elevation of 5,969 feet, the Montpelier Idaho Temple will not only be a landmark for its architectural beauty but also for its remarkable location. As the eighth House of the Lord in Idaho, it will complement the existing temples in the state, which include locations in Twin Falls, Boise, Burley, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Pocatello, Rexburg, and Teton River.
Public Open House
The public will have the opportunity to experience the Montpelier Idaho Temple from September 10th to September 26th, 2026. This event aims to showcase the beauty and sacredness of the House of the Lord before its dedication.
Dedication Ceremony
