Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a true treasure in Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful place has been brightening lives as the 95th dedicated temple in operation since it first opened its doors. It all began with an exciting announcement back on March 14, 1999.
After a lot of anticipation, the groundbreaking happened on July 3, 1999, thanks to Elder Rex D. Pinegar, marking the start of something truly special. Fast forward to July 8-22, 2000, when the first public open house welcomed thousands of visitors, eager to explore its peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The official dedication took place shortly after, on July 30, 2000, led by Apostle James E. Faust—what a memorable moment for the community!
The temple is a stunning sight, with its soft beige limestone exterior and a charming single spire topped with a golden Angel Moroni statue. Nestled on an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds, complete with a lovely fountain, it’s the perfect spot for reflection and tranquility. Inside, you’ll be amazed by the gorgeous Italian marble finishes, with spaces designed for worship that include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry.
This temple is a warm and welcoming hub not just for those in Oklahoma but also for friends from neighboring states like Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. It was great to see so many people during the second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, leading up to the rededication on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, following some exciting renovations.
Standing tall at 83 feet 9 inches and set at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple truly represents hope and community spirit. Being the first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a dedicated district of 9,000 members. With its rich history and friendly vibe, the temple remains a beloved sanctuary where all are welcome to experience its beauty and serenity. We invite you to come and see for yourself!
