Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a lovely treasure located in Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful temple is the 95th dedicated temple in the world and has been bringing joy and inspiration to the community since it was announced on March 14, 1999.
The excitement kicked off with a heartfelt groundbreaking ceremony on July 3, 1999, led by Elder Rex D. Pinegar. After years of anticipation, the temple finally opened its doors for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was such a special time as people from near and far came to see and feel the peaceful spirit of the temple. The official dedication followed on July 30, 2000, with Apostle James E. Faust leading the ceremony, marking a proud milestone for everyone involved.
The temple itself is absolutely stunning! With its warm beige limestone exterior and a beautiful spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, it’s a sight to behold. Set on a peaceful acre of well-kept grounds adorned with a charming fountain, it’s the perfect place to unwind and reflect. Inside, you’ll discover gorgeous Italian marble finishes and inviting spaces, including two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all designed to create a welcoming experience for everyone who visits.
One of the best parts is that this temple serves not only the wonderful people of Oklahoma but also reaches out to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Recently, it hosted a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, giving even more folks a chance to explore this beautiful space before its rededication on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, following some exciting renovations.
Standing at a graceful 83 feet 9 inches high and perched at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple truly stands tall as a symbol of hope and community. Being the first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a growing district of 9,000 members. With its rich history and friendly atmosphere, this temple remains a beloved sanctuary where everyone is welcome. So come on by and experience the warmth and beauty for yourself!
