Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a beautiful and welcoming place nestled in Yukon, Oklahoma! This gem is the 95th temple dedicated to serving communities, and it has been a source of inspiration and connection since it was first announced on March 14, 1999.
The excitement really kicked off on July 3, 1999, when Elder Rex D. Pinegar officially broke ground for this lovely sanctuary. After much anticipation, the temple opened its doors to the public for the very first time from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was a heartwarming experience as families and friends came together to explore the peaceful atmosphere. The temple was officially dedicated shortly after on July 30, 2000, by Apostle James E. Faust, a day everyone still cherishes.
The temple itself is a stunning sight, featuring a warm beige limestone exterior and a lovely single spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue. Set on an acre of serene grounds, complete with a charming fountain, it’s a perfect spot for reflection and renewal. Inside, visitors are greeted with beautiful Italian marble finishes and welcoming spaces that include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, making it a truly special place for worship.
One of the best things about the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is how it serves not just the wonderful folks in Oklahoma but also reaches out to friends in Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. It recently held a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, allowing even more people to come in and appreciate its beauty before it was rededicated on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring after some renovations.
Standing tall at 83 feet 9 inches and located at an elevation of 1,202 feet, this temple truly represents hope and community spirit. As the first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a loving network of 9,000 members. With its rich history and friendly atmosphere, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple continues to be a cherished sanctuary for everyone who visits. We invite you to come experience the warmth and beauty for yourself – you’re always welcome!
