Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a beautiful sanctuary set in the heart of Yukon, Oklahoma! This lovely temple is the 95th dedicated temple in the world, and it’s been spreading joy and serenity since it was announced on March 14, 1999.
The excitement was palpable when the temple broke ground on July 3, 1999, thanks to Elder Rex D. Pinegar. After working hard to turn this vision into reality, the temple opened its doors for its first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000. It was such a special time, bringing together people from all walks of life to share in its beauty. Shortly after, on July 30, 2000, the temple was officially dedicated by Apostle James E. Faust, creating cherished memories for the community.
You’ll be in awe of the temple’s stunning architecture! Its warm, beige limestone exterior and the striking spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue create a welcoming atmosphere. Surrounding the temple is a serene acre of grounds, complete with a lovely fountain, making it a perfect spot for quiet reflection and peace. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous Italian marble finishes, along with two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry designed to enhance your experience.
What’s really heartwarming is that this temple serves a vibrant community not just in Oklahoma, but also reaches friends in Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. Recently, it had its second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, giving even more people the chance to explore its beauty before it was rededicated on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring after some wonderful renovations.
Standing tall at 83 feet 9 inches and at an elevation of 1,202 feet, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple truly shines as a symbol of hope for everyone who visits. As the first temple built in Oklahoma, it proudly serves a community of about 9,000 members, and it’s a place filled with warmth and love. We invite you to come and experience the magic of this special temple for yourself—you won’t be disappointed!
