Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a true gem located in the heart of Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful temple is the 95th dedicated temple in operation, and it has become a cherished spiritual home for many. The tale of this lovely temple began on March 14, 1999, when plans for its construction were first shared with the world. Fast forward a few months, and on July 3, 1999, Elder Rex D. Pinegar conducted the groundbreaking ceremony, marking an exciting new chapter. By July 8-22, 2000, the temple opened its doors for the first public open house, inviting everyone in the community to come and experience the peace and beauty within.
On July 30, 2000, the campus was officially dedicated by the Apostle James E. Faust, welcoming around 9,000 members into its loving embrace. It’s a hub of inspiration, serving not just Oklahomans but also friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri who come to find solace and connection.
In 2019, the temple received a much-deserved makeover! After closing for renovations from October 15, 2017, to May 19, 2019, it opened up for another public open house from April 24 to May 1. The excitement built up to its rededication by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, making it feel like a celebration of renewal!
Once you step inside, you’ll be captivated by the elegant Italian marble finishes that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. With two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, there’s plenty of space for special moments and gatherings.
