Welcome to the enchanting Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a true gem located in the heart of Yukon, Oklahoma! As the 95th dedicated temple in operation, it’s a vibrant hub of community and faith that draws in visitors from near and far. With its breathtaking beige limestone exterior and that striking spire topped with a golden Angel Moroni statue, it’s hard not to fall in love at first sight!
The temple’s journey started back on March 14, 1999, when it was officially announced. Fast forward a few months to July 3, 1999, and the excitement was palpable as Elder Rex D. Pinegar broke ground, laying the foundation for something truly special. After much anticipation, the doors opened for the first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000, giving everyone a chance to step inside and soak up the serene atmosphere.
On July 30, 2000, the temple was dedicated by the wonderful Apostle James E. Faust, and it quickly became a cherished spiritual home for around 9,000 members in the surrounding area. Its doors have always been open to not just Oklahomans but also to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri, making it a place where communities come together.
In 2019, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple decided it was time for a makeover! After undergoing extensive renovations from October 15, 2017, to May 19, 2019, it was ready to shine once again. The excitement built up with another public open house from April 24 to May 1, leading up to a joyful rededication by Apostle Henry B. Eyring.
Step inside, and you’ll find stunning Italian marble finishes that create a warm and inviting vibe. With two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, there’s something for everyone here. And let’s not forget its impressive height of 83 feet 9 inches, sitting gracefully at an elevation of 1,202 feet, making it a standout landmark.
