Welcome to the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple, a truly special place nestled in Yukon, Oklahoma! This beautiful temple is the 95th dedicated temple in operation, and it has been lighting up the hearts of many since it was announced on March 14, 1999.
The excitement began when the groundbreaking took place on July 3, 1999, thanks to Elder Rex D. Pinegar’s leadership. After lots of love and effort, the temple opened its doors for its first public open house from July 8 to July 22, 2000, inviting everyone to come and explore this serene and inspiring space. The official dedication followed on July 30, 2000, by Apostle James E. Faust, marking a joyous occasion for the community.
Isn’t it gorgeous? The temple boasts a warm beige limestone exterior, with a striking spire featuring a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue that stands proudly above. Set on a lovely acre of peaceful grounds, complete with a beautiful fountain, it’s a delightful spot for reflection and calm. Inside, you’ll discover stunning Italian marble finishes, inviting areas like two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry that create an atmosphere of serenity and connection.
An extra special feature of the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is how it serves not just the wonderful people of Oklahoma but also reaches out to friends from Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri! It recently opened its doors for a second public open house from April 24 to May 1, 2019, warmly welcoming everyone before its rededication on May 19, 2019, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring after undergoing some enhancements.
Standing proudly at 83 feet 9 inches and perched at an elevation of 1,202 feet, this temple represents hope and unity for everyone it serves. Being the very first temple built in Oklahoma, it initially served a devoted district of 9,000 members. With its friendly atmosphere and gorgeous surroundings, the Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple is a cherished sanctuary for all. We invite you to come visit and experience the warmth and beauty that awaits!
