It’s the thirteenth temple built in Utah and holds the distinction of being the fourth in the Salt Lake Valley, sharing its home with the South Jordan Utah Temple.
In a dramatic turn of events during the public open house on June 13, 2009, lightning struck the angel Moroni statue, leaving visible marks on its trumpet, arm, and face. Thankfully, a replacement statue was carefully installed on August 11, just ten days before the dedicatory services, restoring the temple’s grandeur.
Step inside to find an interior that captivates with light limestone from Morocco and darker limestone from Egypt, enhanced by exquisite woodwork crafted from Rift-cut White Oak solids from Indiana and Kentucky, with White Oak and Sycamore veneers adding to its charm.
