A noteworthy incident took place on June 13, 2009, when lightning struck the golden Angel Moroni statue during the public open house, leaving its trumpet, arm, and face blackened. Fortunately, a replacement statue was swiftly installed on August 11, just ten days before the dedicatory services began, ensuring the temple remained a symbol of hope and beauty.
