Discover the Orem Utah Temple, a remarkable beacon of faith and community for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! As the 188th dedicated temple currently in operation, it stands proudly at 1451 S 1100 W in Orem, Utah, 84058—serving as both a spiritual sanctuary and a gathering place for worship.

The journey to this architectural masterpiece began with its announcement on October 5, 2019. Fast forward to September 5, 2020, when Elder Craig C. Christensen led a heartfelt groundbreaking ceremony, setting the stage for what would become a significant addition to the Orem area. Fast forward to October 27 through December 16, 2023, when the temple welcomed visitors for a captivating public open house—a chance to explore its stunning interiors and beautiful design before its official dedication.

Nestled on a sprawling 15.39-acre site, the land was thoughtfully purchased in 2003 from the Niels Williamson family, whose roots trace back to Norwegian immigrants. It’s heartwarming to note that three descendants of the Williamson family were present during the groundbreaking, connecting the temple’s past with its future.

Architecturally, the Orem Utah Temple is a true gem, featuring a striking single attached central spire and an exterior clad in exquisite pedras salgadas granite sourced from the captivating landscapes of Portugal. Unique in design, this temple doesn’t feature the traditional gold-leafed Angel Moroni, yet it stands out with its symmetrical three-story steel structure and a graceful multi-tiered tower.

Step inside, and you’ll be enveloped by the beauty of 71,998 square feet of sacred space, which includes four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and a baptistry. Towering at 218 feet, the temple’s elevation reaches 4,539 feet, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding vistas.

The interior is a masterpiece, with beautiful Crema Marfil marble flooring from Turkey that dazzles the eye, showcasing patterns of cream, red, green, and brown. The art glass windows, adorned with cherry blossom motifs, pay homage to the natural beauty of the area, reflecting the wetlands surrounding Utah Lake.

Outside, the landscape bursts with life, featuring vibrant Norwegian sunset maples and delicate snow queen hydrangeas, creating a tranquil atmosphere for all who visit.

Elder Christensen beautifully encapsulated the temple’s purpose, calling it “an added refuge of strength in an increasingly uncertain world.” This sacred space invites individuals to deepen their faith, connect with others, and embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ.

With a growing community—26 stakes and counting!—the Orem Utah Temple is not just a building; it’s a symbol of hope and resilience, drawing people together in a spirit of unity and love. Come and experience the magic of this spiritual landmark!
