On April 4, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced the plans for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple. This initiative is a response to the growing number of Latter-day Saints in Oregon, where over 300 congregations currently exist. The roots of the faith in the region date back to the arrival of settlers in 1887, contributing to the development of the local religious landscape.
Location and Size
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is situated at 3701 Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, covering an impressive 10.5 acres. With a height of 120 feet and an overall area of 30,000 square feet, the Temple features a single attached central spire, making it a recognizable feature of the local skyline. At an elevation of 429 feet, its presence is notable against the surrounding backdrop.
Features of the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple
The Temple incorporates various rooms designed to facilitate different religious activities. It includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry. This thoughtful design allows for a wide range of purposes, making it a functional space for those who utilize it.
