The Palmyra New York Temple is a lovely gem in the heart of Palmyra, New York! Located at 2720 Temple Rd, this beautiful place is the 77th temple dedicated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, making it a special spot for many.

The story of this temple began on February 21, 1999, when it was announced to the public, and the excitement really took off with the groundbreaking ceremony on May 25, led by President Gordon B. Hinckley. After much anticipation, the temple opened its doors for a public open house from March 25 to April 1, 2000. Finally, on April 6, 2000, it was dedicated, a date that’s particularly meaningful since it marks 170 years since the Church was organized in nearby Fayette!

Nestled on a lovely five-acre site, the temple features a stunning exterior of Bethel white granite and boasts an eye-catching spire topped with a golden angel Moroni statue. Inside, you’ll find a cozy 10,900 square feet of space designed for peace and reflection. There are two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all meant to create a welcoming environment for those seeking spiritual connection.

One of the unique aspects of the Palmyra Temple is its location atop a picturesque elevation of 578 feet, just a stone’s throw from the Sacred Grove—the very site where Joseph Smith had his incredible vision in 1820. It’s such a meaningful connection to the Church’s history!
