Welcome to the Payson Utah Temple, a wonderful place that truly shines as the 146th dedicated temple! It’s much more than just a building; it’s a special spot for discovering the deeper questions of life. When Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced its creation on January 25, 2010, he said, “Temples answer those soul-searching questions… They are sanctuaries from the storms of life.” What a beautiful way to put it!
The exciting journey began with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 8, 2011, where more than seven thousand people came together, undeterred by a little rain and chilly temperatures. Prophet Dallin H. Oaks shared his vision for the temple, describing how it would stand proudly beside I-15, a meaningful landmark for so many travelers.
If you missed it, the public open house from April 24 to May 23, 2015, was something truly special! Over 475,542 visitors walked through its doors, getting to experience the beauty of this sacred space firsthand. It was officially dedicated on June 7, 2015, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, marking a joyful milestone for the community.
Built on 10.63 acres, the temple boasts gorgeous cream precast concrete panels and features a stunning gold-leafed angel Moroni statue atop its central spire, reaching an impressive height of 208 feet. Inside, you’ll find three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a welcoming baptistry, all within a spacious 96,630 square feet.
You can find the Payson Utah Temple at 1494 S 930 W, Payson, Utah 84651. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a lovely destination that enriches the spirit and invites everyone in to seek peace and inspiration. Come and explore—there’s so much to discover!
