Welcome to the beautiful Payson Utah Temple, an inspiring gem nestled in the heart of Payson, Utah! As the 146th dedicated temple, it’s not just a building; it’s a warm sanctuary for everyone seeking answers to life’s big questions. It all began on January 25, 2010, when Prophet Thomas S. Monson announced its construction, reminding us that “temples answer those soul-searching questions” and offer refuge from life’s storms.
The excitement kicked off with a joyous groundbreaking ceremony on October 8, 2011, led by Prophet Dallin H. Oaks. Though the weather was a bit chilly, a light rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the over seven thousand people who came together to celebrate this special day. Oaks wonderfully captured the essence of the temple’s location, saying it would be a “dominant and visible influence” for all the travelers passing by on I-15.
Fast forward to April 24 through May 23, 2015, when the temple opened its doors for an incredible public open house! Imagine over 475,542 visitors exploring its beautiful spaces and experiencing the peace within. Finally, the temple was dedicated on June 7, 2015, by Apostle Henry B. Eyring, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The Payson Utah Temple sits on a lovely 10.63 acres, boasting charming cream precast concrete panels and an eye-catching central spire topped with a gleaming gold-leafed angel Moroni statue. Standing at 208 feet tall, it truly catches the eye! Inside, you’ll find three instruction rooms, seven sealing rooms, and a baptistry, all spread across a spacious 96,630 square feet.
