The journey toward the Pocatello Idaho Temple began on April 2, 2017, when it was announced to the public. Groundbreaking and site dedication followed on March 16, 2019, conducted by Elder Wilford W. Andersen. After years of anticipation, the public open house took place from September 18 to October 23, 2021, attracting a remarkable 250,721 people. The Temple was officially dedicated on November 7, 2021, by Apostle M. Russell Ballard. During the dedication, Elder Ballard expressed a heartfelt blessing, focusing on the youth and the desires of the faithful.
Architectural Features
The Pocatello Idaho Temple occupies a vast area of 10.94 acres. It features radiant white granite sourced from China, contributing to its stunning aesthetic. The architectural design includes a single attached central spire topped with a gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue, serving as a prominent feature visible from nearby Interstate 15 and Interstate 86.
Interior Amenities
Inside, the Temple spans 71,125 square feet and is structured across three stories. It includes four instruction rooms and four sealing rooms for significant family gatherings, as well as one baptistry for various purposes.

The surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped, boasting over 500 trees and thousands of flowers. Notable tree species include the Norwegian sunset maple, sawleaf zelkova, and Dolgo crabapple. Bright flowering shrubs like English lavender and snow queen hydrangea add vibrancy to the surroundings. Additionally, a combination of white firs, alpine firs, and lodgepole pines were carefully selected to enhance the natural beauty of the area.

The stained glass windows also feature designs representing local wildflowers, such as the syringa, Idaho’s state flower, and bitterroot.
