Nestled in the beautiful city of Pocatello, Idaho, the Pocatello Idaho Temple stands as a stunning testament to faith and community. As the 170th dedicated temple in operation, this architectural masterpiece has quickly become a cherished Temple.

A Journey Through Time
The journey to bringing this temple to life began on April 2, 2017, when it was first announced to the public. Following a long-awaited vision, a groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 16, 2019, led by Elder Wilford W. Andersen, marking the beginning of a significant chapter for the area.

After years of anticipation, the temple opened its doors during a public open house from September 18 to October 23, 2021, welcoming a staggering 250,721 visitors eager to experience its sacred atmosphere. The culmination of this journey came on November 7, 2021, when the temple was dedicated by Apostle M. Russell Ballard, who expressed a heartfelt prayer for the community, emphasizing the blessings of faith and love.

Architectural Wonder
Occupying 10.94 acres, the Pocatello Idaho Temple is not just another building; it’s an oasis of spirituality. With its elegant exterior of white granite sourced from China and a stunning gold-leafed Angel Moroni statue perched atop a magnificent central spire, this temple captures the eye and the heart. Inside, you’ll find four instruction rooms and four sealing rooms, along with one baptistry, all designed to foster a deep spiritual connection.

A Celebration of Nature
The temple resides amidst nature, flourishing with over 500 trees and thousands of vibrant flowers. The landscaping features thoughtful selections that reflect the local environment, bringing to life the beauty of Idaho’s natural landscape. From the Norwegian sunset maple to the breathtaking colors of the English lavender and snow queen hydrangea, each element inspires peace and beauty for all who visit.

Unique Features
The chapel area boasts enchanting stained glass windows depicting Jesus Christ tenderly holding a lamb. These windows showcase wildflowers native to the Idaho mountain desert, including the state flower, the syringa. The artistic use of color—sage greens, golden hues, and soft pinks—captures the essence of the region, inviting visitors to reflect and connect.

Visitors approaching the temple can easily spot it from both Interstate 15 and Interstate 86, proudly standing three stories high at an elevation of 4,989 feet. A nearby stake center further enhances the community feeling that surrounds this sacred space.

A Legacy Restored
Interestingly, Pocatello has a rich history with temple aspirations. Back in the 1930s, plans for the first temple were hindered by water obstacles, leaving the community longing for this sacred space until its dedication in 2021.

The Pocatello Idaho Temple is not only the sixth temple built in Idaho; it symbolizes the dreams and hopes of countless individuals who have waited for a place where they can gather, Temple Work, and find solace.

Experience the Pocatello Idaho Temple—a true gem in the heart of Idaho, where faith meets beauty, and community comes together in love. Whether you’re drawn to its stunning architecture, its rich history, or its vibrant surroundings, there’s something for everyone to cherish at this sacred site.
