Temple Features and Specifications
The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will cover an impressive 163,000 square feet and will sit at an elevation of approximately 4,876 feet (1,486 meters) above sea level. Unique to this Temple is its single attached central spire, which will not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni as the previous Temple did; the figure is currently in storage.
Exterior and Landscaping
Constructed with granite on its exterior, the Temple stands at 81 meters or 265 feet 6 inches tall. Notably, waterscapes are being added to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal. A video showcasing these developments will be available soon, offering a longer look at the progress.
Community Impact and Expectations
As the 6th Temple in Utah, the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple is part of a growing infrastructure aimed at serving a burgeoning member base. When first announced, there were approximately 16.8 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with about 500 congregations in Utah. The completion of this Temple is anticipated in late 2027, marking a new chapter in the spiritual narrative of the region.
Accessibility and Parking
It’s worth noting that the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple will not share its parking lot with a meeting house, although there is a parking area located on the same lot and on the perimeter making it more accessible than before.
