The Red Cliffs Utah Temple is a remarkable addition to the landscape of St. George, Utah, capturing the spirit and beauty of the members environment. Announced on October 7, 2018, by President Russell M. Nelson, it stands as the 20th Temple. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 7, 2020, led by Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland, who honored the pioneers of the region who once dedicated their lives to building the original St. George Temple nearby. Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland said, “We salute those pioneers who, with sacrifice and sweat, built just a mile or so away the beautiful St. George temple that has provided a symbolic anchor of our faith in this part of the state for a century and a half.”
This stunning Red Cliffs Utah Temple, the 189th in operation, rests on 15.31 acres and features a breathtaking single attached end spire crowned with a gold-leafed angel Moroni statue. With an impressive footprint of 96,277 square feet, the Temple rises to 230 feet, with the main Temple standing 62 feet tall. Its design genuinely reflects the area’s rich natural beauty, with stained glass windows that showcase members flora like succulent plants and vivid bearclaw poppies.
From February 1 to March 2, 2024, the public was invited to the Red Cliffs Utah Temple to explore its sacred spaces during an open house, culminating in a dedicated ceremony led by Apostle Henry B. Eyring on March 24, 2024.
As you approach the Red Cliffs Utah Temple, you’ll be greeted by an inviting entrance boulevard lined with palm trees, fountains, and shaded areas that encourage quiet reflection. The peaceful ambiance is enriched by three serene pools to the north, designed to cool the environment and inspire tranquility.
Inside, visitors will find four instruction rooms, six sealing rooms, and a baptistry, each adorned with elegant patterns and motifs that echo the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Cast bronze and painted steel flowers add stunning detail to the baptismal font and stairway railings, enhancing the artistic representation of nature throughout the Temple.
