On October 7, 2018, the announcement of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple was a moment of great anticipation and excitement, marking it as the twentieth Temple unveiled by the Prophet Russell M. Nelson. Fast forward to November 7, 2020, when the groundbreaking ceremony took place, led by Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland, who paid tribute to the pioneers whose hard work and dedication laid the foundation for the nearby St. George Temple—a beloved Temple of faith for over a century. Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland said, “We salute those pioneers who, with sacrifice and sweat, built just a mile or so away the beautiful St. George temple that has provided a symbolic anchor of our faith in this part of the state for a century and a half.”
Nestled on 15.31 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the Red Cliffs Utah Temple stands as the 189th dedicated Temple in operation, an impressive Temple that boasts a striking height of 230 feet, topped by a gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. Its stunning exterior is made of precast concrete, giving it a modern yet timeless presence in the vibrant landscape of St. George at an elevation of 2,618 feet.
As you approach the Red Cliffs Utah Temple, you’re greeted by palm trees lining the entrance boulevard, creating an inviting pathway. The Temple features tranquil fountains, shaded areas, and inviting plazas, perfect for reflection and peace.
