Santiago Philippines Temple: A New Chapter for the Region

Exciting developments are underway in Santiago City, Isabela, with the announcement of the Santiago Philippines Temple. On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson shared plans for this new addition at the October General Conference. Positioned approximately 225 miles northeast of Manila, this Temple marks a significant milestone as the tenth such facility announced in the Philippines.

Location and Size

The Santiago Philippines Temple will take root on a generous 14.47-acre site located east of Camella Isabella Main Road in Barangay Malvar. The proposed design features a single-story Temple spread across 18,850 square feet, coupled with patron housing, a distribution center, and a new meetinghouse, which will share the parking space with the Temple.

Design Features

The exterior you’ll see will be an elegant beige granite, an appealing choice that complements the surrounding landscape. A striking central spire will crowned the Temple, though it will not feature a gold-leafed Angel Moroni. At an elevation of 260 feet, the Temple will undoubtedly have a visual presence that reflects its significance within the region.

Current Status

As of now, the Santiago Philippines Temple remains in the planning stages, with no official construction date announced yet. The design rendering was unveiled to the public on February 23, 2026, giving a peek into what this remarkable site will look like upon completion.

President Nelson’s vision for these Temples was articulated when he announced both Santiago and Naga Temples in 2022. He emphasized the importance of making these facilities more accessible and accelerating their construction, highlighting the ongoing emphasis on growth and outreach.

In a country that already has several operational and planned Temples—including the Alabang, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao, Manila, Naga, Tacloban City, and Urdaneta Temples—Santiago is set to enhance the spiritual landscape for many.

As development progresses, the Santiago Philippines Temple will undoubtedly play an essential role in serving the needs of its future members while contributing to the rich heritage and culture of the area. Keep an eye on this exciting venture as it continues to unfold!
