The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is set to become a significant addition to the spiritual landscape of Minas Gerais, as the open house is scheduled for June 13, 2026, through June 27, 2026. This landmark event will allow many individuals to explore this new addition prior to its formal dedication on August 16, 2026.
Located at Rua Professor Jose Vieira de Mendonça, 1485 Engenho Nogueira, Belo Horizonte–MG, the Temple boasts an impressive 11.8 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. At an elevation of 2,740 feet, this site offers not only stunning views but also a peaceful setting for contemplation.
The announcement of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple was made by Prophet Russell M. Nelson during the 191st Annual General Conference on April 4, 2021. Following this announcement, the groundbreaking and site dedication took place on June 17, 2023. Elder Juan A. Uceda officiated at the ceremony, attended by approximately 500 individuals. His heartfelt words during the event revealed the optimistic spirit surrounding this Temple’s construction, emphasizing blessings for this area and a strong hope for its future.
With a total square footage of 27,000, the Temple features a unique architectural style, characterized by a single attached central tower topped with a pyramid roof. Unlike other Temples, it will not have a gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. Inside, guests will find two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and one baptistry, designed to facilitate various sacred experiences.
It is noteworthy that the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple is the twelfth such facility to be constructed in Brazil, marking an important milestone as the first to be built in Minas Gerais. This adds to the rich history of Temples in Brazil, including the Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, São Paulo East, and Salvador Temples.
Before its construction, there were over 1.4 million members within approximately 2,100 congregations in Brazil, indicative of the Church’s growth in the region. As the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple nears its completion, it promises to be a shining beacon for those who seek to strengthen their spiritual journey and connect with others in faith.
As excitement builds towards the open house and the dedication, the anticipation for the blessings this Temple will bring to the region continues to grow.
