The Lone Mountain Nevada Temple, located at N Grand Canyon Dr, N Tee Pee Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89129, represents a significant development in the area. This Temple was publicly announced on October 2, 2022, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson. At the time, nearly 6% of Nevada’s population identified as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, totaling around 180,000 individuals spread across more than 360 congregations in the state.

Lone Mountain Nevada Temple marks the fourth such facility in Nevada, following the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, which was dedicated in 1989, and the Reno Nevada Temple, dedicated in 2000. Groundbreaking for the Elko Nevada Temple occurred in 2022, just 17 days before the commencement of construction for the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple. The history of Latter-day Saints in Nevada dates back to the 1840s with the establishment of a trading post near Carson City, which is now the state capital.
Groundbreaking and Site Dedication
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 25, 2025, led by Elder Michael A. Dunn, First Counselor in the United States Southwest Area Presidency. “Help us, as a covenant people, to continue to stand on holy ground, to reach toward heaven even as heaven reaches down to us through this magnificent house of the Lord,” Elder Dunn expressed in his dedicatory prayer. The Temple is designed to be a three-story building situated on a 20-acre site near Lone Mountain, a notable geological feature in Northwest Las Vegas.
Architectural Features
With an impressive size of 70,194 square feet, the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple is constructed to a height of 196 feet, and it sits at an elevation of 2,557 feet. The exterior finish and architectural features are thoughtfully designed, featuring a single attached end spire without a Gold-leafed Angel Moroni Statue. Additionally, the Temple will include four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and one baptistry, all aimed at accommodating various activities within its walls.
Timeline and Future Developments
On February 26, 2024, a rendering of the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple was released, providing a visual glimpse into the Temple’s design for the public. It is noteworthy that this temple will be the second built in Las Vegas and the second in Clark County. The closest such facility is the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, located approximately 17 miles to the east.
