Exciting news for the Sunshine State! The Tampa Florida Temple is set to make its grand debut in July 2028, bringing a beautiful spiritual hub to the community. This stunning temple will be located at 9445 Camden Fields Parkway in Riverview, Florida, nestled on a generous 12-acre site.
The journey to this sacred space began on April 3, 2022, when the announcement sparked enthusiasm among local church members and the community alike. Fast forward to August 23, 2025, when Elder Neil L. Anderson honored the ground with a dedication ceremony. His heartfelt prayer invited blessings upon the land, envisioning the temple as a beacon of strength and faith for both the Latter-day Saints and their neighbors.
Architecturally, the temple will feature a striking single attached central tower along with two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, covering an impressive 29,000 square feet. It will sit gracefully at an elevation of 24 feet, adding to its prominence in the area. The Tampa Florida Temple will not have a gold-leaf Angel Moroni on top, but it is built to support one down the road, and we have seen temples down the road get one added.
On March 20, 2023, the beautiful renderings of the temple were revealed to the public, giving a sneak peek of what’s to come—an architectural marvel that reflects the spirit of the community!
However, some unexpected developments came along, and on April 22, 2024, it was announced that the church needed to find a new location for the temple, but excitingly, there will still be a meetinghouse in the same parking lot, ensuring that the community will have a place to gather and perform Temple work.
With 160,000 members in the area and 260 congregations spread throughout Florida, the Tampa Florida Temple promises to be a vital addition, fostering faith, community, and togetherness for years to come. Stay tuned for this remarkable journey ahead!
