Exciting news for Tampa residents and the surrounding community! The Tampa Florida Temple is set to be completed in July 2028, creating a beautiful new landmark at 9445 Camden Fields Parkway in Riverview. This project was officially announced on April 3, 2022, and has already sparked great anticipation among local members and friends alike.
On August 23, 2025, a meaningful groundbreaking ceremony took place, attended by Elder Neil L. Anderson. During his heartfelt dedicatory prayer, he requested blessings for the land and the future temple, hoping it would serve as a beacon of light and strength for Latter-day Saints and everyone in the community.
Spanning an impressive 12 acres, the Tampa Florida Temple will feature a striking architectural design with a single attached central tower. Within its 29,000 square feet, the facility will include two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, promising a sacred space for perform Temple work and community gatherings. The Tampa Florida Temple will not have a gold-leaf Angel Moroni on top, but it is built to support one down the road, and we have seen temples down the road get one added.
Mark your calendars! The temple’s rendering was revealed to the public on March 20, 2023, offering a glimpse into what promises to be an awe-inspiring structure. However, following some adjustments, as of April 22, 2024, the church announced that they would be seeking a new location for the temple, while still planning to have a meetinghouse in the same parking lot.
This development is significant for the region, particularly with the church reporting about 160,000 members and 260 congregations across Florida. The Tampa Florida Temple is anticipated to bring even more unity and inspiration to the community. Stay tuned for more updates as we count down to this monumental addition to the area!
