Nestled at the intersection of SE 20th Street and SE Bybee Road in Camas, Washington, the Vancouver Washington Temple is set to become a stunning landmark by late 2028. Announced by the revered Prophet Russell M. Nelson on October 1, 2023, this sacred space marks a significant moment for the community.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on August 23, 2025, was led by Mark A. Bragg, who beautifully articulated the temple’s purpose: “A temple is truly the house of the Lord, a holy protection from the world where sacred ordinances of the gospel are performed by and for the living and in behalf of our ancestors.” This underlines the temple’s role as a Temple for both current and future generations.
Spanning an impressive 15.11 acres, the Vancouver Washington Temple will encompass a magnificent 43,000 square feet of spiritually enriching space. Its architectural masterpiece is crowned with a single attached end spire, rising to a height of 167 feet, while sitting at an elevation of 267 feet, making it a breathtaking sight against the skyline.
Inside, the temple will be equipped with four instruction rooms, a baptistry, and three sealing rooms, all designed to facilitate sacred ceremonies and ordinances. The anticipation for this temple is palpable, accentuated by the release of its beautiful rendering on September 3, 2024.
This will be the sixth temple built in Washington, reflecting the vibrant growth of the community, which at the time of the announcement boasted 280,000 members across more than 489 congregations. The Vancouver Washington Temple promises to be not only a place of Temple work but also a beacon of hope and connection for all who enter. Exciting times are ahead as we look forward to its completion!
