The groundbreaking and site dedication took place on September 7, 2024, under the leadership of Steven Bangerter, establishing the Wichita Kansas Temple on 6.42 acres in the most populated city in Kansas. It’s a powerful Temple of faith and resilience right here in Wichita.

Architecturally striking, the Wichita Kansas Temple features a single attached central tower with a distinctive design—there’s no gold-leafed Angel Moroni, setting it apart from others. Inside, you’ll discover 9,950 square feet dedicated to Temple work, including one instruction room, one sealing room, and one baptistry. At an elevation of 1,327 feet, it also offers stunning views that enhance its majestic presence.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming events! The Wichita Kansas Temple’s design was revealed to the public on July 22, 2024, and while the open house details are still being finalized, anticipation is high, and we’re ready to welcome everyone.

Wichita has a rich history with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dating back to 1831, when missionaries first engaged with the Shawnee and Delaware tribes. By 1882, the first branch was established in our city, showcasing a strong foundation of faith in the region.
